Dreamy 10- Day Moroccan Adventure

I recently created this dreamy itinerary for a client’s 10-day exploration of Morocco and just had to share it with you! Morocco is open for US citizens and is a very friendly country. It offers a wealth of culture, beautiful gardens, the desert, and the gorgeous Atlas Mountains. And, the Kasbah Tamadot is one of the most luxurious and beautiful resorts I’ve ever seen. Morocco is in my top 5 favorite places to visit, ever!

Let me take you on this 10-day journey through Morocco:

Your plane lands in Rabat on a Sunday where a private car is waiting to drive you to your accommodations at the Palais Amani, an oasis of luxury in the middle of Fes’s busy medina. The panoramic views and flower-filled gardens present the perfect accompaniment to your drinks or breakfast on the rooftop terrace. Travel tip! I can arrange for an hammam spa treatment on arrival.

After a pleasant night’s rest in a gorgeous, comfy room, showcasing stunning Moroccan craftsmanship, you tour the local tanneries and artisan quarter with a private guide. You see local artisans at work and discover how one-of-a-kind goods have been made for centuries. The Fes medina is something to behold – the most beautiful and interesting good for sale everywhere you look.

Relax as you travel the scenic drive to the Merzouga desert and then to the Sahara, where you experience a camel ride in the dunes. Your accommodations are at a Saharan tent camp where you enjoy dinner, a campfire, and stargazing– all accompanied by local tribal music. Your tents are comfortably appointed with double beds and access to a comfortable central terrace. This takes glamping to a new level.

A memorable desert sunrise and morning yoga on the dunes start your next day. You then continue your journey with a beautiful drive to Dades Gorges, known as the Grand Canyon of Morocco, where you will stay at Chez Pierre. Experience amazing views, Michelin-level cuisine, and spacious rooms decorated with artifacts from the region.

On to Marrakech! You stop for lunch at Kasbah ait Ben Haddou, a picture-perfect fortress where you enjoy a deep dive into the customs and architecture of Southern Morocco. You continue your drive to your stay at the Villa des Orangers, a quiet haven ranked among the very best Riads in Marrakech. This is such an amazingly beautiful hotel! You enjoy dinner, a splendid view of the iconic Koutoubia mosque, and a well-deserved night’s rest.

Learn all about Marrakesh with a fascinating expertly led tour of Bahia Palace & Badii Palace, both imposing palaces and relics of architectural and historical eras from Morocco’s imperial past. After an introductory tour to get your bearings, you explore the souk and shop for Moroccan goods. In the evening, you experience a guided tour of Djemaa El Fna–you see fortune-tellers, snake charmers, and acrobats while enjoying a vast array of street food. I will be going back to Marrakesh just to visit, stroll and shop the enormous, fascinating and most famous market in Africa – the Marrakesh Souk – is incredible.

The following day, you visit the fabulous Yves Saint Laurent Museum, housing some of the designer’s best known works, and the Majorelle Gardens, an gorgeous urban oasis full of cacti, exotic plants, and trees.

After a short drive, you arrive at Kasbah Tamadot, a luxury retreat in the Atlas Mountains, where you enjoy a leisurely afternoon and the exquisite cuisine of the Kasbah’s restaurant. The Kasbah Tamadot is one of the loveliest places to spend some time. It offers the perfect blend of exotic, luxury, activity and relaxation. It is perfection!

The next day, you’ll take a morning hike in the Atlas Mountains – leading you to small Berber villages where life has remained unchanged for hundreds of years. Enjoy the crisp, fresh air and babbling mountain streams before heading to the absolutely beautiful pool to sunbathe.

Finally, you spend one more leisurely day at the Kasbah Tamadot before jumping on a flight home at the Marrakech airport.
